When I was a kid—early teens—I
became addicted to licorice.

Growing up in a family business, I had that entrepreneurial spirit in my blood. I also had my own spending money, and every week I treated myself to a bag of red and black licorice from the local gas station. It became my little tradition.

As I got older, life moved on and that ritual faded—until a few years ago. I was away from home, stuck working out of town, sitting in a motel room and chewing on some of today’s so-called licorice. It was terrible. What I really craved was that Old-School licorice
I remembered from my childhood.

So, I went on a quest. I tried everything I could find, but nothing came close. After digging into recipes, I finally found what I was looking for. Then came the challenge—finding someone who could actually make it. I reached out to candy makers until finally one said, “Sure, Dude, we can do that.”

 That’s how it started. I began
with 4 flavors. Now, we’re up to 9 delicious flavors, a team of 3 Licorice Dudes, and even a Licorice Chick—sharing samples and spreading Old-School Gourmet Licorice joy all across southeastern Wisconsin.

We’ve shipped orders from Michigan to Texas and many states in between. These days, we’re doing 3 to 5 events each week, and now we’re launching HeyLicoriceDude.com for easy online shopping. You’ll find all nine gourmet flavors, plus t-shirts, hats, gift bags, and even lunch boxes.

And because we believe licorice is meant to be shared,
we’re also starting Hey Licorice Kid—a fun way to bring our product into school and community fundraisers.
